A Slate is a series of quality tests to perform on a sample for a specific type of product.
The Slates search and listing screen allows for the management of Slates, each composed of tests from the Quality Tests Catalogue Data. Once created, Slates can then be assigned to samples on a Job Order's Laboratory tab, which allows for test results to be entered for each test.
Office: the office associated with the slate. Note that a slate belongs to an office, which means it can only be assigned to samples by someone who belongs to that office. However, a slate that belongs to Head Office can be used by people from any office.
Product Type: the type of product for which the test(s) are to be performed on.
Grade: the grade of product for which the test(s) apply.
Label: associated words or grades for the slate.
Status: a status of Active means the slate can be assigned to a sample in a Job Order's Laboratory tab. A status of Inactive means the slate cannot currently be assigned.
Favourites: a frequently used slate can be marked as a favourite. This will allow users to more quickly search for them on the Slates Search and Listing screen, and when selecting a slate when Assigning Tests and Slates.
Creating Slates
The Slate create action displays the following screen for creating slates:
Office: the office to which the slate will belong. The offices listed will be limited to those, which the current user account has permissions to create slates for, which includes the assigned office and any additional offices assigned to user account’s roles. For more information on office assignment see Creating User Accounts.
Product Type: the type of product for which the test(s) are to be performed on (required).
Grade: the grade of product for which the test(s) apply.

Date Restrictions: specifies date ranges for when the slates can be performed. This is useful for example, when a slate is only applicable for certain parts of the year. Specify a range by selecting the from and to date ranges and then clicking the Add button. Each range will be shown below and can be removed by clicking the "X" icon in the date's box:
Tests: the tests contained within the slate. A test can be added by clicking the Add tests button, which displays a pop up for searching tests. Information for the tests is shown including Order, Test Code, etc. For more information about the columns displayed for the tests see: Quality Tests.
