Snippets are reusable lines of text which can be created and then used to quickly fill in certain fields throughout the Inspection Management System instead of manually typing commonly used terms, sentences, and paragraphs.
The Snippets search and listing screen allows for their creation and maintenance.
The Snippets screen lists the currently available snippets and provides the following information for each:
Name: the unique name of the snippet.
Text: the text that the snippet is composed of.
Use In: the screen and field where the text is available for use.
Status: indicates if the snippet is active (selectable on a screen), or inactive.
Privacy: when enabled, indicates that only the currently logged in user can insert the snippet.
Creating Snippets
When viewing a Snippet, selecting Create Snippet from the Actions menu displays the following screen for creating snippets:
The Snippet creation screen allows the following information to be entered:
Snippet Name: the name to uniquely identify the snippet by. It's recommended that a descriptive name including the screen, field of use, and what the content represents, be chosen for easy identification.
Text: the text to include in the snippet.
Status: set to Active to allow the snippet to be selectable, or Inactive to prevent the snippet from being available for selection.
Privacy: set to Shared if the snippet should be available for other users to insert, or Private if only the current user should be able to insert the snippet.
Use In: select the screen/field where the snippet should be available for user. Multiple screens/fields can be specified by repeatedly selecting items from the Use In dropdown. Items can be removed by clicking on the "-" icon that appears beside each screen/field added.
